Robert Stanley Derby

Robert Stanley Derby, 74, formerly of Meadville, died following an extended illness Thursday, November 22, 1979, at the Crawford County Home in Saegertown where he resided for the past nine years.

He was born in Vernon Township, July 1, 1905, son of Emory and Charlotte Gartner Derby.  He married Kathleen Evans June 9, 1937.

He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation where he worked as an enspector and previously was employed as a quality control inspector at Westinghouse Corp.

Derby was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge 408 and Solomon Royal Arch Chapter 191.  He was a life member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge 219.

In addition to his wife, Derby is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Peter (Carol) Balsamo of Butler; a son, Robert C. of Goldsboro, NC and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Kingsley Cemetery.
