Robert W. Anderson, 89 of St. Paul’s Colony, Greenville, PA, formerly of Lakeland, FL and Stoneboro, PA, died peacefully on July 8, 2023. Bob was born in Munhall, PA, to the late Walter and Florence Anderson on July 11, 1933. He attended grade school in Pittsburgh before moving to Stoneboro. He graduated from Stoneboro High School and New Castle School of Trades. He served in the Army at Camp Gordon, Georgia during the Korean Conflict as Company Clerk and Military Police.

In 1959, Bob married the love of his life: Kathy Hostetter. They raised their two daughters: Sue (Curt) Leake of Stoneboro and Karen (Dean) Lindey of Grove City. He was known as “Pops” to granddaughter: Jayme (Mike) Philson, grandson: Jack (Julie) Lindey, and great-grandson: Cash Philson. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, who he called “Sweetie”, his daughters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sisters: Ellen (Chris) Behm, Louise (Chuck) Jones, of Stoneboro, and brother Jack (Eleanor) Anderson of El Paso, TX.

Bob was employed by a family owned business, Slater Ford, as shop manager, and was well known for his painting skills. He and his wife owned Anderson Upholstery and enjoyed working together. He could fix anything and was known as “Handy Andy”.

Bob loved golfing and was an officer in the Lakeview Golf League for many years. He worked as a ranger at Pine Grove for many years. While living in Florida Sandpiper Golf Community, he worked in the Pro Shop. Bob only had one hole-in-one in all his many years of golfing, but was fortunate to have his buddy, Rock Stone, of Grove City, to witness it.

Robert Anderson was a member of Stoneboro United Methodist Church and attended Calvary United Methodist Church of Greenville after moving to St. Paul’s Colony in 2019. Bob loved to sit on his front porch and enjoyed neighbors stopping by. He loved giving their dogs treats as they visited. He was known as a “good guy” to those who knew him.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose And Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Stoneboro & Sandy Lake.

A Celebration of Life Service for Bob Anderson will be held in St Paul’s Colony in the Rust Pavilion. (Near the administrative office) Friday August 4th 2-4 pm. Light refreshments and casual dress.

Interment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

In lieu of flowers, Bob’s suggestion was “Just do a good deed for someone else”
