Robert W. Byham, 89, of Mt. Hope died at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 1959, at Spencer Hospital after an illness of a week.
Byham was born at Mt. Hope February 14, 1870, a son of Sylvester and Lucyette Smith Byham. He was married to the late Joie Murdoch.
Byham formerly taught school in Crawford County for about 25 years. He also was engaged in farming for many years. He retired about 1933 after returning to Mt. Hope from Harrisburg where he served for 18 years with the State Banking Department. He was a member of Mt. Hope Methodist Church and Mt. Hope Grange.
Surviving are a son, Allen S. Byham of Meadville; a daughter, Miss Edith L. Byham at home; two sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Alda) Troedson of Heppner, OR and Mrs. Josiah (Jessie) Morrison of Mt. Hope; a brother, Morris K. of Meadville; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
