Robert Warren Thompson

Robert Warren Thompson, 78, formerly of Conneaut Lake and a current resident of the Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown died there, Saturday, May 2, 2009.

He was born in Sharon May 3, 1930, a son of the late Warren Clifford and Marie Louise Pasher Thompson.

Robert was a 1948 graduate of Farrell High School, Farrell and a 1952 graduate of Grove City College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1954 to 1957.  Robert worked as a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania, specializing in environmental control and foundry practices.  He was employed with the Orwell Supply Division of U.S. Steel Company, Oil City and Talon, Inc., Abex Corporation, and Dayton Malleable, all of Meadville.  In retirement, he worked part-time at Burkhardt Sheet Metal, Meadville as a consultant.

Robert was a member of Meadville Masonic Lodge 234 and the New Castle Consistory.  He was a former member of Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie and Acacia and Kismet Grottos.  He was a life member and past officer of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville and later transferred his membership to VFW Post 7842, Linesville.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Robert was a very generous man in a quiet way and he especially cared about children.

He was of the Presbyterian faith.

Survivors include a brother, Richard Thompson of Sequim, WA.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Thompson and a sister, Carolyn Dallas.

Per his wishes, there will be no services.
