Roberta Carol Noonan, 54, of 507 Shadow Oaks Drive, Meadville died at home, Wednesday, September 21, 2005 following an illness of almost 14 years.
Born January 25, 1951 in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Edith) Spagnola Maringo, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was a 1969 graduate of Conneaut Valley High School and a 1974 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. On April 24, 1976 she married James Noonan
She worked in the area as a pharmacist, initially at the former Eckerd store in the Park Avenue Plaza followed by the Saegertown Pharmacy. She served for several years as a consultant pharmacist at the area nursing homes, and then worked from 1982 until 2000 at the same pharmacy in Conneaut Lake, through several changes in ownership: Freeaufs’, Greenwood, Thrift and the current Eckerd Pharmacy names. She was also co-founder of the Crawford County Pharmacists Association.
From 1985-1989 she owned a video store in Meadville known as Video on Wheels. From 1991 until 2004 she operated her own business, Video Expressions, videotaping weddings and special events.
She was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church and the Junior Women’s Club.
One of her favorite pastimes was watching her children participate in local sports. She loved to ride her bicycle and kayak. She also enjoyed spending time on the farm where she grew up.
Survivors, in addition to her husband James of 29 years, include: two children, Christine 23 and Michael 16 both at home, a half sister, Marlene Volta of Long Beach, CA and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with a Scripture Prayer Service at 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville with Rev. Richard Allen as celebrant.
Burial following cremation will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Conneautville.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335 or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Western PA, Two Gateway Center – 13 North, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
