Rodney S. Orr

Rodney S. Orr, 79, of Meadville, died at City Hospital Monday, February 2, 1976, after a long illness.

Born in Venango February 5, 1896, he was a son of William and Mary Sherred Orr.  He was married to Nora I. Homan who died in 1972.  In 1958, he retired as chief clerk of the tool room of Talon Division of Textron Inc.  A member of Saegertown United Methodist Church, he also was a member of Masonic Lodge 408; a charter member of Cambridge Springs American Legion Post and a veteran of World War I, serving in the US Army.  Former mayor and councilman of Saegertown, he also was a past president of the former Saegertown School Board.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William (Velma) Luttrell of Lexington, KY and Mrs. Donald (Thelma) Wirick of Meadville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson who died in Vietnam.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Venango Cemetery.
