Roger C. Smith

Roger C. Smith, 75, of Meadville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 30, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born May 3, 1944 in Meadville, a son of William and Mona Foulk Smith.  He married Eileen M. Page December 10, 1975 and she survives.

Roger was a 1962 graduate of Meadville High School.  He worked as a conductor for the Erie Lackawanna and Conrail Railroads for 18 years.  He subsequently worked as a plumber at Allegheny College for 24 years.

A member of First Christian Church, Roger received his certificate of Divinity from Liberty University.  He subsequently served as an associate pastor at the church for 10 years and taught the Victory Sunday School Class.  He served as a Christian Layman for local prison ministry at the Crawford County Correctional Facility and with the Bill Glass Prison Ministry at the Albion Correctional Facility.

Roger participated in the Professional Bowling Association Senior Tour and was a member of the Western Crawford County Bowling Hall of Fame.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Eileen, include eight children, Dale Smith of Meadville, Tom Smith (Beatriz) of Crestview, FL, Gina Foulk of Meadville, Renee Haylett (Kevin) of Norrisville, Vicki Pius (Jay) of Erie, Angela Huff of Meadville, Wendy Kornman (Bruce) of Conneaut Lake, and Brian Smith (Barb) of Meadville; fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Alex Williams.

Family and friends will be received Thursday, October 3rd from 2-5 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

A memorial service will be Friday, October 4th at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church, 503 N. Main Street Ext., Meadville with Jim Gibson, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
