Roger S. Bailey

August 27, 1896 — June 2, 1988

Dr. Roger S. Bailey, 91, retired Meadville dentist, died Thrusday, June 2, 1988, following a lengthy illness.  He died at Wesbury where he had been a resident since May of 1985.

Dr. Bailey was born in Titusville, August 27, 1896, a son of Sharon K. and Ida Holeman Bailey.  He married Mildred Battin, September 22, 1921.  Dr. Bailey retired in 1978 from the private practice in denistry after 55 years of service.  He had received his 50-year pin in 1973 from the Pennsylvania Dental Assoc.

He attended Allegheny College and Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1923 from Pitt Dental School.  He was a member of the American Dental Assoc., Pennsylvania Dental Assoc., Crawford County Dental Society, Taylor Hose Co., the Country Club, and a member of Stone United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George (Jean) Roskos of Tacoma, WA; two sons, Roger Bailey, Jr. of Paso Robles, CA and Dr. Alan D. Bailey of Meadville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, O.K., and DeForest; two sisters, Esther Stevenson and Eleanor Erwin; and one grandson, Michael Bailey.

Services were held at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Hawke, officiating.

Entombment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
