Roland F. Jacobs

August 11, 1933 — August 21, 2021

Roland F. Jacobs, 88 of Milledgeville, passed away on August 21, 2021 at home. Roland was born in Carlton on August 11, 1933 to the late James and Nellie (Kaltenbaugh) Jacobs. He was a graduate of Cochranton High School and went on to proudly serve his Country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Roland was a 69-year member of the Local Union #66, working as a heavy equipment operator. He also served as a French Creek Township Supervisor for 24 years. He was a very hardworking man and took great pride in his work. In his retirement he enjoyed going camping and hauling his 5th wheel camper. He had an exceptional memory, always remembering places, highways, and dates. He was known for his many quirky “one-liners”. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and always took an interest in his loved one’s lives. He was a member of the Free Masons and was Protestant by faith. He loved animals, especially dogs and was an exceptional caregiver to his wife and daughter. He always enjoyed a family get together and having a meal and a good piece of pie. He adored his grandchildren and grand-dogs, and was a wonderful husband, dad and Papa. Roland married his beloved wife, Dorothy “Jayne” (Stright) Jacobs on June 23, 1956. The couple recently celebrated their 65th anniversary. She survives at home. He is also survived by his children, David (Linda) Jacobs on Monroe, NC, Debra Jacobs of Milledgeville, Duane (Amy) Jacobs of Carlton, and Darlene (Greg) Gould of Milledgeville, grandchildren Sarah (Ben) Lybrook of Meadville, and Logan Jacobs of Carlton, and his soon-to-be great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents, Roland was preceded in death by his sister Virginia Wilcox. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Services will be private. Interment will take place in Milledgeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roland’s name may be made to the Humane Society of one’s choice.
