Ronald C. Guianen, Sr.

June 30, 1934 — April 19, 2008

Ronald C. Guianen, Sr. 73, of Centerville, died at home Saturday April 19, 2008, following a courageous battle with bone cancer.

He was born in Erie, June 30, 1934, a son of the late John and Edna McCall Guianen.  He married Myrna Zimmer May 22, 1954 and she survives.

He retired from Erie Forge and Steel in 1997, as a Brick Layer, after 43 years of service.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Ron enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved being outdoors caring for his horses and other animals.

Survivors in addition to his wife of 53 years, include one daughter, Dawn Guianen and her husband Bill Russell of Louisville, KY, three sons, Ronald C. Guianen, Jr. and his wife Jill of Erie, Mark Guianen of Erie and Chris Guianen and his wife Becky of Centerville, five grandchildren, Jason Guianen of Meadville, Brittany and Michelle Guianen both of Erie, and Joshua Heister and Jordan Guianen both of Florida, and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Vicki Heister, a son Jeff Guianen, 5 sisters, Marie Drushel, Ruth Kosack, Patricia Elder, Elenor Burger and Dolores Lachesky, and 4 brothers, Jack, Leroy, Harry, and Robert Guianen.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-5 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, with the memorial service to follow at 5:00 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Kosarek, Hospice Chaplain, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Crawford Co., 310 Monroe St. Titusville, PA 16354, or Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd., Meadville, PA 16335.
