Ronald C. Martin

Ronald C. Martin, 63, of Conneaut Lake died Thursday, January 17, 2008 at the Meadville Medical Center following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Pittsburgh September 25, 1944 a son of the late Carl E. and Evelyn M. Miller Martin.  Frances McArthur his loving companion of 36 years survives.

He was the owner and operator with Fran of Martin’s Farm Market in Conneaut Lake for 35 years.  He was also a former member of the Carpenter’s union and a self-employed carpenter for several years.

He was affiliated with Watson Run Church of God and a 1962 graduate of Meadville High School.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the family camp.  He also enjoyed growing and tending his crops, especially sweet corn.  He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

Survivors, in addition to his loving companion Fran, include: two sisters, Judith Janes and her husband Roger of Meadville and Donna Sprong and her husband Tom of Conneaut Lake; a brother, James Martin and his wife Kathi of Conneaut Lake; three step-children, Rosemary Clark and her husband Sam of Jamestown, PA, Martha Jane Herbst and her husband Bud of St. Louis, MO and Robert Lynn McArthur; five step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake.  The memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Hough, Pastor of Watson Run Church of God officiating.

Interment will be in Watson Run Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
