Ronald E. Hughes of Gettysburg, PA, formerly of Franklin, Pa, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, August 4, 2024. He was 68.
Born August 8, 1955 in Oil City, Pa, Ron was the son of John C. and Elaine L. Henderson Hughes, Jr. He grew up on Pone Lane and was a 1974 graduate of Franklin High School.
In earlier years he worked at the Bonanza Steak House, Con-Air and Joy Manufacturing in the structural department. In 1987 he moved to Gettysburg and worked for Masterbrand Cabinet Company and then retired from Knouse Foods.
He had been a member of the Sandy Creek and Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Companies.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Ron enjoyed car shows and flea markets and was an avid Pittsburgh Sports fan. He especially loved spending time visiting with family.
Ron married Patty S. Mahle on April 6, 1979 and she survives at home. Also surviving are a son Scott J. Hughes, and a daughter Shannon E. Hughes, all of Gettysburg. Also a sister Sandra L. Baker, Franklin, Pa as well as a host of family members including nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, PA 16153 where family and friends are welcome for visitation on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. A funeral service will follow visitation in the funeral home at 12:00 PM, with Rev. Glenn Walker officiating.
Interment and Committal Service: Rockland Cemetery, Kennerdell, Pa.
