Ronald R. Smock

Ronald R. Smock, 73, of Meadville died Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Meadville Medical Center, following a period of failing health.

He was born in Meadville, August 22, 1937 a son of Lloyd Kenneth and Harriett M. Corey Smock.  He married Judith Burkholder Meech July 21, 1979 and she survives.

He worked in auto sales all his life, first at Kebert Truck Sales, then Smith-Gray, Community Chevrolet and most recently Griffin Motors, where he retired in 2000.  He was a 1955 graduate of Meadville High School. He was a member of Vernon Central Fire Hall, Vernon Vol. Fire Dept., Huidekooper VFW Post 2006, Stafford American Legion Post #111, West Mead Vol. Fire Dept. #2 and Cochranton Masonic Lodge #790.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Judith of 31 years, include: two daughters, Linda Webb of Brandon, FL and Cindy Jacobs and her husband John of Conneaut Lake; two sons, Tom Smock and his wife Sue of Little Rock, AR and Chris Smock and his wife Tabatha of Denton, TX; a step-daughter, Michelle Meech of Oakland, CA; a step-son, Marc Meech and his wife Stacey of Heath, OH; a sister, Karen S. Eiler and her husband Val of Meadville; a brother, Donald L. Smock of Meadville; eleven grandchildren, Jody Burbach, Justin McClearn, Ryan Brown, Erin Milem, Molly Smock, Cole Smock, Elizabeth Smock, Abigail Smock, Rachel Meech, Cara Meech and Samantha Meech; three great grandchildren, Brandy, Steven and Michael Burbach and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Smock; a grandson, Noah Simonette and an infant brother, Kenneth Arden Smock.

Following cremation, calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.  The memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dave Brumagin, officiating.

The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
