Rosalie M. Mccracken

Rosalie M. McCracken, 78, of Meadville and an elder of Rolling Fields died there, Friday, August 21, 2020. She was born in Meadville November 21, 1941 a daughter of Gilbert A. and Marie V. LeComte Rickert. She married John W. McCracken June 5, 1965 and he survives. She was a 1959 graduate of Randolph East Mead High School, a 1963 graduate of the former Indiana State College (now I.U.P.) with a Bachelors degree in speech and hearing and then received her certification in Elementary Education. She worked as a speech therapist at the Crawford County School office from 1963-1966, as a 3rd grade teacher at Randolph East Mead Elementary School from 1966-1970 and then as a kindergarten teacher at Maplewood Elementary School from 1970 until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of St. Hippolyte Church and served on the Liturgy and Cemetery committees. She was a member of Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority at I.U.P., Pennsylvania Assoc. of School Retirees, Meadville Womans Club, Meadville Garden Club and served as a board member for many years of the former Meadville YWCA. She was also the recipient of the Elizabeth M. Crumrine "Woman of the Year" award from the Meadville YWCA in 2002. She enjoyed flower gardening, golfing, biking and traveling. Survivors, in addition to her husband, Jack, of 55 years, include: a brother, Robert Rickert (Bonnie) of Meadville; five nieces, Shelly Smith (Daniel) of Meadville, Jill Rickard (Brian) of Maple Glen, PA and Chelsea, Paige and Brook all of Florida; two nephews, Michael McCracken and Kevin McCracken both of Meadville; eight great nieces and great nephews, Joshua and Abbey Smith, Jordan Rickard, Faith Smith, Sean Rickard, Natalie and William McCracken and Patrick McGee and two brothers-in-law, Charles L. McCracken (Susan) of Meadville and David R. Heil (Shelly) of Winter Park, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 24th at 11 a.m. at St. Hippolyte Church, 25997 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills, PA with Fr. Daniel Prez, Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Hippolyte Cemetery. Due to the Covid-19 virus a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Hippolyte Church, 25997 State Hwy 27, Guys Mills, PA 16327 or the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
