Rose M. Cory

Rose M. Cory, 84, of Meadville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Wesbury Hillside Home.

She was born July 12, 1932 in East McKeesport, PA, a daughter of John L. and Magdalena Eltscher Hagen.  She had been married to Philip T. Cory, the father of her three children.

Rose was a 1950 graduate of Grove City High School and attended Grove City College and received an art certification.  She worked at Cooper-Bessemer in Grove City, office manager in the Grove City Borough office, Kocher’s Grove City Floral, Loeffler’s and Duerr’s Florists in Meadville, and retired from Allegheny College Pelletier Library where she was employed at the circulation desk for 17 years.

A member of Stone United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, Rose enjoyed cooking, baking, arts and crafts, and was an avid reader.  She taught and played the piano, made floral arrangements from her own fresh and dried flowers, book marks, gift cards, and framed wall arrangements.  She loved animals, especially dogs and cats and was an active volunteer at the Meadville Soup Kitchen for several years.

Survivors include twin daughters, Janice and Joyce Cory, both of Cambridge Springs; a son, Jeffrey Cory of Meadville; a nephew, Douglas Moon and his wife Gail of Greenville; a niece, Stacy Kozel and her husband Dennis of Mequon, WI; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Moon and Fern Jacobson.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main St., Meadville with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
