Rose Marie Spicer, 87, of 27366 Lyona Rd., Guys Mills, died Sunday, March 05, 2006 at the Crawford County Care Center.
She was born in Benton Harbor, MI September 4, 1918, a daughter of late George W. and Rose M. Hadlow Edgcumbe. She married Jack B. Spicer August 10, 1946 and he preceded her in death December 30, 2001.
She was a graduate of Benton Harbor Business College. She was employed as a personnel secretary for 13 years at Cooper, Wells, and Company of St. Joseph, MI; religious education secretary for 10 years at the Methodist Peace Temple of Benton Harbor; financial secretary for 4 years at Stone United Methodist Church of Meadville; and cost clerk for 10 years at Talon.
She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and was formerly a member of its United Methodist Women, and member and past president of its Marriott Sunday School class. She was a former member and recording secretary of the A.M. Walkers Club and was a former volunteer at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Mary Spicer of Guys Mills and Betty Litke and her husband Gene of Guys Mills; a son, Charles W. Spicer and his wife Pat of Greensboro, NC; 3 grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Litke and Elizabeth Hackney; several nieces and nephews, including Richard Spicer of Alpena, MI; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Henrietta Edgcumbe and Suzanne Parry and a brother, George J. Edgcumbe.
Calling hour will be Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. William L. Brown, Associate Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
