Rose W. Dennis

January 25, 1909 — February 10, 2002

Rose W. Dennis, 93, of Plank Road, Meadville died Sunday, February 10, 2002 at the Meadville Medical Center.

She was born January 25, 1909 in Lorain, OH a daughter of Michael and Rose Kondrascin Wessel.  She married Carl W. Dennis July 1, 1939 and he survives.

She was a graduate of Kent State University and she taught elementary school in Medina, OH and Negley, OH and worked as principal at New Springfield, OH Elementary School and also taught 5th and 6th grade at Randolph-East Mead Elementary School in Guys Mills.

She was a long time member of Wayland Baptist Church and a former Choir Director and Deaconess.  She was a member of the Randolph-East Mead Retired Teachers Assoc. and she enjoyed and excelled at crocheting, jigsaw and crossword puzzles.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of 62 years, include two daughters, Rosemary H. Obert and her husband Larry of Union City and Wilma I. Hogan and her husband Patrick of Fairfax, VA; two sons, Kermit D. Dennis and his wife Donna of Blooming Valley and Carl J. Dennis and his wife Darlene of Cochranton; five grandsons, Ralph C. Obert, William J. Dennis and his wife Kristen, Brian P. Hogan and his wife Leslie, Christopher Hogan and Timothy Hogan; four granddaughters, Hallie Johncox and her husband Scott, Barb Butryn and her husband Mark, Esther McElhinney and her husband W. Thomas and Mary Anthony; four great grandsons, one great granddaughter; a sister, Irene Brandt of Poland, OH; a brother, Frank Wessel and his wife Ruth of Tullahoma, TN and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Heaver and two brothers, Joseph Wessel and Michael Wessel.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the Wayland Baptist Church, 11603 S. Wayland Rd.

The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayland Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Walton, of Lyona Bible Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Wayland Cemetery.
