Roselyn Marie (Manross) Mcguire

August 11, 1944 — April 30, 2016

Roselyn Marie McGuire, 71, of Meadville, died Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Meadville Medical Center.

Raised in Cambridge Springs, she was born August 11, 1944 in Erie, a daughter of Henry and Lucille Coulter Manross.

Roselyn was a 1963 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School and a 1997 graduate of the Business Institute of Pennsylvania in Meadville.  She was employed as a secretary at Bethesda Children’s Home from 1979 to 1984, then as a receptionist at the former David Mead Inn from 1986 to 1996, and retired as a Walmart Associate where she worked for 15 years.

Roselyn was a former member of First Presbyterian Church and former member of the former Meadville Welcome Wagon organization.  She was a long-time West Mead Township judge of elections for almost 40 years.  An avid collector of spoons, Roselyn enjoyed fishing, gardening, and bird watching.

Survivors include a son, Shawn McGuire and his wife Heather of Erie; a daughter, Heather Furno and her husband Rick of Mount Airy, MD; a sister, Clara Manross a resident of Rolling Fields; mother figure and dearest friend, Nancy Norman of Cambridge Springs; and the McGuire’s from North and South Carolina and the Bobik’s from Pennsylvania.  The McGuire family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the loving care and dedication provided by special friends Bonnie and Ray Swogger of Townville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her long-time partner of 25 years, Dennis Sutton and a sister, Ruth Christie.

Calling hours will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home where a memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Sam Marchetta, Chaplain of Wesbury United Methodist Community, officiating.

Interment will be in Cambridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesbury Foundation (for the Benevolent Care Fund), 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335.

The McGuire family gratefully appreciates and acknowledges the loving care and support provided by the Wesbury staff and particularly the Cribbs Home staff.
