Ross L. Owens, 73, a former resident of Meadville until moving to Jamestown, NY several years ago, died Wednesday, July 12, 1961, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Butler. He had been in failing health.
Owens was born in Erie County near Waterford July 25, 1888, a son of Alfred T. and Dora Robinson Owens. He was an engineer for the Erie Railroad Co. for many years until retiring 10 years ago. He was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
A veteran of two years in World War I, Owens served in France in 1918 in the Marbath Sector, Saint Mihiel and the Meuse Argonne engagements.
He was married to the late Pearl Shorts and the former Ruth Lindholm.
Surviving, besides his widow, are five step-children: Mrs. Edward Shea of Meadville, Ivan L. Childs of Vero Beach, FL, Justin V. Childs of Erie, Mrs. Kenneth Norman and Worthy F. Lindholm of Jamestown, NY; a sister, Mrs. Erwin Root of Phoenix, AZ and three brothers, Floyd, John and Harvey Owens, all of Erie.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
