Ruby Eldred

Mrs. Ruby Eldred, 83, who was partner with her husband, Albert I. Eldred, in Eldred's Gift Shop for about 60 years, died at Flickinger Convalescent Home, Saturday, August 6, 1966.

Mrs. Eldred had been ill for some time.

She was born March 11, 1883, a daughter of George E. and Adella Baker Marsh.  Marsh was in the hardware business at Townville for many years.

On September 9, 1908, she and Eldred, who died January 14 of this year, were married.  Together they operated Edlred's Gift Shop.  The shop was on the second floor of the Eldred building, with Wirt's drug store on the main floor.

The entire stock of the store was put on sale by court order May 19, 1966.  Prior to the sale, the store had been closed for several months due to the illnesses of both Mr. and Mrs. Eldred.

Mrs. Eldred was a member of the First Baptist Church, Alpha Chi Omega social sorority and was a charter member of the Meadville Women's Club.  She attended Allegheny College and was a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Music.  She taught music at Union City for several years.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery.
