Rudolph O. (Rudy) Anderson

January 9, 1907 — March 26, 1999

Rudolph O. (Rudy) Anderson, 92, of Marland Place, Andover, MA and formerly of Hillcrest, Meadville, died Friday, March 26, 1999 at Wingate Nursing Center, Andover, after an illness of 2 months.

He was born in Schenectady, NY, January 9, 1907, a son of J. Oscar and Maria Charlotta (Anderson) Anderson.  He married Lilly Mae Pritchard, June 15, 1935, and she preceded him in death on April 17, 1991.

Mr. Anderson was a graduate of Erie East High School and Erie Business College.  He had been employed by Talon, Inc., also as an Independent Insurance Agent and by Lafayette Taxi, Co.  He was a 60-year member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a church usher for many years. He was a Red Coat Volunteer at Meadville Medical Center for 15 years and had spent considerable time with men talking about prostate cancer.  He was a member of Masonic Lodge #408 and Elks Lodge #219 both of Meadville.  He and Mrs. Anderson had been the longest continuous residents of Hillcrest at the time of their move from here.

Survivors include a daughter, Gayle Anderson Keene of Methuen, MA; four grandchildren, David M. Keene, Hallie Keene Twomey, Tara Ley Shiffer and James Todd Shiffer; four great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, a daughter, Darlene (Dee) Shiffer; a grandson, Bradley James Shiffer; a sister, Hulda Snyder; and a brother, Edward C. Anderson.

Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Brian Moran, officiating.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
