Russell J. Boettiger

November 26, 1951 — January 8, 2003

Russell J. Boettiger, 51, of Meadville, died Wednesday, January 08, 2003 at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie following complications from heart surgery.

He was born in Erie, November 26, 1951, a son of John Charles and Elaine Hall Boettiger.

For the past 16 years he has been the owner and operator of Park Avenue Tire here in Meadville.  Previously, he worked for Ganzer and Skips Tire both in Erie and also Meadville Tire Co.

He attended Fairview Public Schools and was a veteran of the Vietnam Era with the US Army.  He was a member of Crawford Masonic Lodge #234, Meadville, Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie, the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of New Castle and the Meadville Elks Lodge #219.  He was an avid archer and outdoorsman.

Survivors, include: a daughter, Amy Lynn Boettiger, a son Sam Ryan Boettiger and their mother, Cindy Boettiger all of Meadville; a daughter, Kimberly Smock of Albion; his mother, Elaine Boettiger of Fairview; a brother, Jeffrey Boettiger of Erie; four grandchildren; and his loving companion Peggy Johnson and her daughters of Girard.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Carl Boettiger.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Cammaratta, Pastor of Fairview Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Erie.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore Avenue, Erie, PA 16505.
