Russell L. Lair

October 17, 1911 — January 30, 1982

Russell L. Lair, 70, of Meadville, died at City Hospital Saturday, January 30, 1982, following a two-year illness.

He was born at Centre Hall, Centre County, October 17, 1911, a son of Edward and Annie Weaver Lair.  He married Jane Dennington, May 5, 1945.

He was last employed for eight years by West Mead Township, serving six of those years as a township supervisor.  Prior to that he worked as a truck driver for maintenance of way for Erie-Lackawanna Railroad, from which he took disability retirement in 1962.

Mr. Lair was a member of West Mead 1 and 2 VFD.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Jennie) Lucas of Milesburg and Mrs. Ralph (Miriam) Williams of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons, Eugene of Centre Hall and Russell, Jr. of Claysburg; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Wilma) Clark of Pleasant Gap; a brother, Ray of Bellefonte; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a grandchild.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
