Ruth A. Cray

October 17, 1939 — February 3, 2009

Ruth A. Cray, 69, of Meadville, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at her residence following a period of declining health.

She was born October 17, 1939 in Erie, a daughter of the late Merlyn R. and Evelyn Shahan Lindsley.  She had been married to Edward M. Vogt.

She was a production worker at Talon for over 30 years.  She enjoyed playing bingo and in her earlier years she enjoyed swimming, roller-skating, boating, and most any water activity.

Survivors include 4 children, Diana Simons of Meadville, John Vogt and his wife Brenda of Meadville, Cindy Vogt of Meadville, and Anna Krank and her husband Mark of Gloucester, VA; a brother, Merlyn R. Lindsley, Jr. and his wife Mildred of Blooming Valley, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, and her special cat Tiger.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her long-time companion, Glenn R. Shorts who died January 7, 2009.

Calling hours will be Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where the funeral and committal service will follow at noon with the Rev. Gerald Walton, Pastor of First Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
