Ruth DeLong, 79, of Meadville, died Tuesday, October 18, 1988, at Meadville Medical Center following a sudden illness.
She was born in Upper Sandusky, OH, August 16, 1909, a daughter of Edward L. and Gladys Hall. She married D. A. (Larry) DeLong, July 15, 1941. He survives.
She was employed by the former Meadville City Hospital as a switchboard operator and an emergency room aide. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Thorpe Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Attica, NY and a member of Order of the Amaranth of Rochester, NY. She was an active volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Bank for nearly 30 years.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a sister, Annetta Thomas of Sun City, AZ; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Beicher and a brother, Daniel Hall.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
