Ruth Evelyn Knapp

Ruth Evelyn Knapp, 78, of Meadville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

She was born February 4, 1941 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Charles and Ruth LaZaro.  She married Gayle Knapp June 29, 1963 and he survives.

Ruth was a 1959 graduate of Hampton High School and a 1963 graduate of Grove City College with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  She worked as an elementary school teacher in several local districts and then found her love of teaching preschool.  She subsequently spent over 10 years as a Mary Kay consultant.

Ruth was a member of High Street Community Church, Conneaut Lake.  She was involved with a Moms in Prayer group and established a prison ministry group that ministered to inmates at the State Correctional Institution, Cambridge Springs.  Ruth enjoyed sewing and loved to work in her perennial garden every summer.

Survivors, in addition to her husband Gayle, include a son, Derek Knapp of London, England; a daughter, Laura Way (Brad) of Avon, OH; and a grandson, Caden Way.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Lewis and Diane LaZaro.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 1st from 4 to 6 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE and Saturday, November 2nd from 10 to 11 a.m. at High Street Community Church, 9517 U.S. Hwy 322, Conneaut Lake.

A Celebration of Ruth’s life will be Saturday, November 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at High Street Community Church with Rev. John Sandau, Jr., Church Pastor and Rev. William Rogers, officiating.
