Ruth G. Mcbride

October 31, 1920 — December 24, 2003

Ruth G. McBride, 83, of 21297 Star Route, Meadville, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at the Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born in Meadville October 31, 1920 a daughter of Harold D. and Ethel Bentley Gleason.  She married Edwin E. McBride January 12, 1943 and he preceded her in death November 18, 2000.

She was a 1938 graduate of Meadville High School and a graduate of Spencerian Business School of Cleveland, OH.

She was a member of Wayland Baptist Church and a former Sunday School teacher and choir member.  She was past President of American Baptist Women and was involved with many different Missionary Groups.

She was a 4-H leader and volunteered at the Crawford County Fair in the homemaking dept. for many years.  She also enjoyed bowling and traveling with family.

Survivors, include: three daughters, Suzanne McBride of Peekskill, NY, Martha Spiggle of Nashville, TN and Jane Myers and her husband Cris of Conneaut Lake; one son, William McBride and his wife Cher of Nevada, IA; one sister, Helen Hill of Waynesboro, PA; three brothers, Walter and John Gleason both of Meadville and Edward Gleason of Conneautville; five grandchildren Adam Myers, Ben Myers, Katie Myers, Kenton McBride and Courtney McBride, nieces and nephews and two special friends, Doris Crago and Barbara Schnarrs.  She was preceded in death by three sisters, Harriet Handley, Evelyn Yoder and Mary Lou Hillman.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Wayland Baptist Church, State Hwy. #27, Meadville with Rev. Harlan Nefstead and Rev. Paul LeVan, officiating.

Burial will be in Wayland Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to Wayland Cemetery Assoc., c/o Neal Bohnert, 12709 Leslie Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
