Ruth Gibson Deloe, 101, formerly of North Street, Meadville, and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community, died there Monday December 4, 2006.
She was born in Dallas City, PA, August 7, 1905, a daughter of James H. and Lydia C. Gilbert Gibson. She married Thomas H. Deloe May 1, 1940, and he preceded her in death January 9, 1995.
Ruth was a homemaker and graduated from Lockhaven State Normal School. She taught elementary school in Bradford for several years prior to her marriage.
She had been an active member of Stone United Methodist Church and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a long time volunteer with the American Cancer Society, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a volunteer with the American Lung Assn., a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Lioness Club, and a Red Cross blood donor for many years.
Nieces and nephews survive.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Deloe, four sisters, Edith Day, Mabel Thompson, Beulah Hughey, and Kitty Waldorf, and four brothers, James, Frank, Norman, and Frederick Gibson.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc. 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Stone United Methodist Church, 956 South Main St., Meadville with the Rev. William Brown, Associate Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in the family burial plot in McKean Memorial Park, Bradford, Thursday at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Joanne Vineyard, officiating.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
