Ruth Louise Winters

Ruth Louise Winters, 91, formerly of the Shryock Apartments, Meadville and a resident of the Crawford County Care Center since 2009 died there, Monday, July 2, 2012.

She was born in East Mead Twp., April 9, 1921 a daughter of Charles Sylas and Maude Leora Snodgrass Allen.  She married Hector J. Urquhart September 7, 1940 and he preceded her in death December 21, 1972.  She subsequently married Walter Winters June 15, 1973 and he preceded her in death November 18, 1973.

She was a 1938 graduate of Meadville High School.  She worked at American Viscose Corp., the Crawford County Home and at various restaurants in the area.  She was a life-long member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church.  She loved doing all types of crafts.  She drew and wrote poetry all her life and she enjoyed flowers, her garden and canning vegetables.

Survivors, include: two sons, James R. Urquhart and his wife Jayne of Guys Mills and Richard L. Urquhart of Nashville, TN; seven grandchildren, Robert, Douglas, John, Jennifer, Lorie, Brian and Daren Urquhart; twelve great grandchildren, Ursula, Roslund, Matthew, Brittany, Adam, Ryan, Nikolas, Vanessa, Colton, Makenzie, Ethan and William; a daughter-in-law, Judy Urquhart and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Howard S. Urquhart and A. Hugh Urquhart; a daughter, Kathleen L. Neads; a grandson, James Scott Urquhart; a granddaughter, Sharon L. Urquhart and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Urquhart.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Alice McClymonds, Pastor of Pine Grove United Methodist Church, officiating.

The family suggests memorials be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Charlotte Hamilton, 21598 Hunter Road, Meadville, PA 16335 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
