Ruth O. Kellogg, 89, of Meadville, and a Wesbury resident since 1996, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, July 18, 2013.
Ruth was born in Westford, April 14, 1924, a daughter of the late Fred and Marie Jamison Royal. She married Robert H. Kellogg September 30, 1942, and he preceded her in death December 5, 1999.
She was a 1941 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Allegheny College. She retired in 1986 from Meadville Medical Center following 17 years as director of public relations and volunteer services, two positions she started at the hospital. She previously worked as the Welcome Wagon hostess and supervisor for 13 years and home service representative for United Natural Gas Co.
Ruth was a former member of the local, state, and national Public Relations Societies and Director of Volunteer Services of the local, state, and national societies along with serving 6 years as state officer and president of the Western PA Chapter of Volunteer Services.
She was a member of the Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary and former public relations committee member at Wesbury United Methodist Community. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, its Marriott Sunday School Class, and a former administrative board member. She was also a member and former board member of the United Methodist Women. She had been youth director, circle leader, and Sunday School teacher for many years.
Ruth enjoyed water-skiing, sewing, traveling, camping and spending time with her family.
Survivors include 2 sons, Dr. R. Thomas Kellogg and his wife Lynne of Meadville, and Dr. Ronald A. Kellogg and his wife Mary Ann of Erie, a daughter, Deborah A. Seaholm and her husband Scott of Mentor, Ohio, eight grandchildren, Jennifer Murray and her husband Donald, Amy Nuzback and her husband Tom, Mandy Greydanus and her husband Matthewand had , Laura Pushchak and her husband Andy, Kristin Jenkins and her husband Brad, Kim Koeth and her husband Bob, Sarah Menser and her husband Kevin and Kevin Kellogg and 19 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ardith Free.
The memorial service will be Wednesday, July 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the Barco Chapel of Grace Nursing Center, Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville, with the Rev. John Bargar, Pastor of Westford United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
