Ruth T. Metzger

Ruth T. Metzger, 99, a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community for the past 12 years, died there Tuesday, May 27, 2014

She was born in Cleveland, OH September 22, 1914 a daughter of Harold and Laura Guentzler Tallman.  She married Melvin C. Metzger and he preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of the former Western Reserve University in Cleveland with an art and elementary education degree.  She lived in Titusville for 17 years where she raised her family and was active in church activities, the Garden Club, and Boy and Girl Scouting.  After moving to Mt. Lebanon, PA, she taught nursery school and became the Nursery School Director at Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed water and oil painting, music, gardening, golf, bridge and playing the piano.

She is survived by three children, Richard Metzger of Meadville, Susan Strawbridge and her husband Craig of Houston, TX and Paul Metzger and his wife Laura of Fairfax, VA and six grandchildren and three great grandchildren

Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial service Sunday, June 1st at 3 p.m. in the Barco Chapel of Wesbury United Methodist Community, 31 N. Park Avenue, Meadville with the Rev. Sam Marchetta, Chaplain, officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Mt. Lebanon, PA.
