Ruth W. Hill

Ruth W. Hill, 94, of Meadow Street, Meadville, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the Meadville Medical Center.

She was born December 26, 1914 in Conneaut, Ohio a daughter of Adiel and Suzannah Laituri Ahlberg.  She married Maynard J. Hill May 8, 1942 and he survives.

She worked with her husband when they owned and operated Hills Office Supply.  She also had worked at the J.C. Penney Co. and as office secretary at Stone United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, Past President of its United Methodist Women and Past District and Conference United Methodist Women Officer.  She was a member of Wesbury’s Sunset Auxiliary and a past Membership Chairman.  She was a graduate of Conneaut (OH) High School.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of 66 years, Maynard Hill, include: a daughter, Karyn Graham and her long-time companion, William Francisco of Meadville; a daughter in law, Karen Hill of Linesville; four grandchildren, Janet Ross and her husband Kevin of Saegertown, Jeannette Hathaway and her husband Randy of Guys Mills, Melanie Boswell of Burlington, NJ and Steven Hill and his wife Lynette of Haymarket, VA; eight great grandchildren, Nicole Hathaway, Quinton Ross, Quaid Ross, Zane Ross, Amber Boswell, Sydney Boswell, Genna Hill and Lexie Hill and nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary M. Hill; two brothers, John Ahlberg and William Ahlberg and two sisters, Thelma Tyler and Tynne Ahlberg

Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral and committal service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Stone United Methodist Church 956 S. Main Street, Meadville with the Rev. John Spahr, Pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
