Ruth W. Krasa

Ruth W. Krasa, 94, formerly of Rogers Ferry Road, Meadville and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since October 2008 died there Sunday, July 25, 2010.

She was born January 13, 1916 in Meadville a daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Schreck Whistler.  She married Frank J. Krasa April 23, 1949 and he preceded her in death June 18, 1982.

She worked at American Viscose Corp. for 18 years and she helped her husband operate Krasa Service Station for 32 years.  She was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church and its Alter and Rosary Society.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, her flowers, playing bingo and cards and spending time with her family.  She volunteered for several years at the former Beverly Health Care Meadville (now the Meadville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center).

Survivors, include: a son, Frank J. Krasa, Jr. and his companion Barbara Cekus of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Helen Anthony and her husband Raymond of Meadville and Dolores McIntosh and her husband Harry of Erie; a sister, Mildred Wood of Meadville; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Tracy Lynn Anthony; four sisters, Florence Whistler, Margaret Hollabaugh, Marie Prenatt and Geraldine Wolfe; three brothers, Paul Whistler, Clarence Whistler and Charles Whistler; two half-sisters, Hazel Zeitler and Pearl Reisinger and two half-brothers, Homer Whistler and Roy Whistler.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with a scripture prayer service at 8:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville with Fr. Ray Gramata, Celebrant.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
