Ruth Walker Jacobs, 98 of Franklin, passed away on June 24, 2019 at Sugar Creek Station. Ruth was born in New Vernon Township, Mercer County on June 11, 1921 to the late Bailey Vernon and Ora Irene Free Walker. She was a 1939 graduate of Sandy Lake High School and went on to attend the Meadville Commercial College. In her early years she worked as a secretary at McCrosky Tool Company in Meadville before becoming a homemaker for her husband and children. Ruth married her beloved husband, Harry J. Jacobs on October 5, 1940, he preceded her in death on May 8, 2004. Ruth was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin, she had also been an active member of New Lebanon Grange, active in the Senior Centers of Franklin and Sandy Lake, a member of the Homemakers Club of French Creek Twp, and also a volunteer worker at VNA of Oil City. Ruth will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always known to look out for others and making sure someone was fed. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Marjorie Stewart and husband Rick of Butler, and Sherry Johnston and husband Jim of Franklin, grandsons Mike Tynan and wife Robyn of Fenelton, and John Tynan and wife Tracy of Marietta, OH, four great-grandchildren, Darren, Fredley, Mason, and Lynncoln, dear friends Mary Jett, Chris Beach, and Bonita Brown, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde, Marma Duke, Ted, and Ralph Walker. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of STONEBORO, 99 Franklin Street, where family and friends are welcome from 4-7 PM on Thursday, June 27, A funeral service will take place in the funeral home on Friday, June 28, at 1 pm with the Rev. Sam Wagner, associate pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials in Ruth’s name may be made to UPMC Sugar Creek Station Auxiliary, 351 Causeway Dr, Franklin, PA 16323. The family would like to thank the staff of UPMC Sugar Creek Station for their excellent care of Ruth while she was in their facility.
