Ruth Alice (Garver) Ziemianski

Ruth Alice Ziemianski, 77, of Meadville died at home Tuesday, September 28, 2021.  She was born June 23, 1944 in Pittsburgh a daughter of John Frederick and Mary Elizabeth Coggins Garver.  She married Jacob G. Ziemianski November 12, 1977 and he preceded her in death July 7, 2015.

She was a graduate of Penn Joint High School in Harrison City, PA and received her medical transcription degree from Point Park Univeristy.  She first worked in a physician’s office before working in the transcription department of Meadville Medical Center.  She retired in 2007 as secretary for the Chief Nursing Officer at the hospital.

She enjoyed gardening, crafts, crocheting and knitting.  She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins and collected their memorabilia.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and numerous friends.  She also enjoyed pontoon boating on Pymatuming Lake.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Ritchey of Meadville; two nieces, Teresa McCollum (Jerry) of Grantsboro, NC and Diana Hunsberger (Timothy) of East McKeesport, PA; a nephew, Joseph Ritchey of Meadville; four great nieces, Ashley Surrena (Jacob), Hannah Rumeau (Benjamin), Megan McCollum (Evan) and Cassandra Ritchey; three great nephews, Johnathon McCollum (Autumn), Trevor McCollum and Simon Hunsberger (Megan); two great great nephews, Jacob Surrena (LJ) and Wyatt Surrena; a great great niece, Nola Surrena and numerous cousins and friends including two special friends, Cindy and Gibbie.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Edward Garver and her grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

At Ruth’s request, no services will be held.

Interment will be in Old Sandy Cemetery, Polk, PA.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335
