Samuel B. Mears

Samuel B. Mears, 84, of Guys Mills, died Saturday, December 21, 1996 at Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born in Urichsville, OH, May 24, 1912, a son of the late Jamie and Martha Grussey Mears.  He married Grace Braymer December 28, 1932.  She survives.

He worked for American Viscose Co. as an industrial photographer and draftsman, retiring in 1972 after 40 years of service.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and its church choir and Yesterday's Sound Barbershop Chorus.  He also did private photography and enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Mrs. Hudson (Lucy Mae) Hess of Haiti and Mrs. Gordon (Gloria) Ruby of Lithonia, GA; three sons, Kenneth Mears, S. Fred Mears, both of Meadville and H. David Mears of Cochranton; two sisters, Mrs. Wilbur (Pat) Rounds of Meadville and Mrs. Anita Michael of Port Charlotte, FL; one brother, Stan Mears of Meadville; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, J. Crawford and George Mears and two sisters, Mary Jo Malterer and Pauline Hudson.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
