Miss Sarah Bowman Murphy, 86, died Sunday, July 5, 1959, at the Meadville Home for the Aged, after living there for the past nine years.
She was born in St. Petersburg, Clarion County, May 18, 1873, a daughter of Jonathan D. and Mary Bowman Murphy.
She was a music teacher and had held church music positions. She was a member of the Methodist Church at St. Petersburg and attended Stone Methodist Church here, where she was a member of the Beacon of Light Class of the church school; she was a graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Mrs. William R. (Emma Lockhart) Murphy of Pittsburgh; one niece, Mrs. John H. Louthan of Pittsburgh; and three nephews, Dr. Howard Ansley Murphy and W. D. Murphy, both of New York City and Robert L. Murphy of Meadville.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Petersburg Cemetery, Clarion County.
