Sarah M. Beard

Sarah M. Beard, 79, of Meadville, wife of Jack Beard, died Wednesday, May 27, 1964, at Hamot Hospital, Erie, after an illness of seven weeks.

Mrs. Beard was born at Webster, Fayette County, November 16, 1884, a daughter of Alvin W. and Mary S. Hagerty Kelly.  She married Mr. Beard, June 15, 1915.

Mrs. Beard was graduated from California State Normal School in 1904 and taught school for several years in Westmoreland, Erie, and Crawford Counties, coming to this county in 1922.  She was a member of Stone Methodist Church, its Beacon Light Class which she taught for several years, and the Woman's Society of Christian Service.

Surviving, besides her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Ann) McGranaham of Rockledge, FL; two sons, W.K. Beard of Lakewood, OH, and Jack J. Beard of Hartstown; nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

Service were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Rocky Glen Cemetery.
