Sarah Margaret Trevitt Boyd “Margaret”, 96 of Sandy Lake, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2022 at her home with family members present. She was born in Lake Twp on July 19, 1926 to the late Ralph & Frances (Boyd) Trevitt. She was a 1944 graduate of Stoneboro High School and a 1948 graduate of Westminster College with a degree in education. After graduation she taught math and history at Stoneboro High School for five years before becoming a homemaker for her family.
She was a longtime member of Clarks Mills United Methodist Church and was a very active member. She served as the president of the U.M. Women and loved to volunteer at many church events. She was also a member of the Stoneboro Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #110. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and canning. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them.
Margaret married her beloved husband, James Dale Boyd on September 12, 1953 He preceded her in death on January 10, 2003.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; David L. (fiancé Sue Penna) Boyd of Sandy Lake, Susan (Dale) Hutcheson of Edinboro, and Karen (Bob Dendy) Goodale of Tryon, NC, grandchildren; Lindsay (Andrew) Seifert, Taylor Goodale, Christy (Moses) Ashaba and Craig Hutcheson, great-grandchildren; Rachel & Ruth Ashaba, sisters; Eleanor (Robert) Smith of Grove City, and Kathleen (John) Norville of Millersville, MD, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her sister; Helen Painter, and brothers; Richard and Walter Trevitt.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 2 pm – 4pm & 6 pm – 8 pm on Thursday, October 20. A funeral will take place at the funeral home at 2 pm on Friday, October 21, with Pastor Adam Stump, officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery
