Sarah E. Oakes

November 5, 1871 — October 12, 1942

Mrs. Sarah Elva Oakes, 70, widow of William Oakes, died on Monday evening at her home in Mt. Hope following several weeks' illness.

Mrs. Oakes was the only child of James D. and Nettie Stewart Oakes and resided in the Mt. Hope community her entire life.  She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Hope Methodist Church and a member of the ladies' Bible class of the church and of the Woman's Society of Christian Service.

Surviving are four daughters and one son, all residing in Randolph Township:  Mrs. Ray Byham, Mrs. Harry Wentworth, Mrs. Floyd Smith, Mrs. William Cutshall and Harold Oakes; sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
