Shirley Ann Keppler, 66, of 14510 Limber Rd., Meadville, died Saturday, February 28, 2004 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.
She was born in Penn Line August 21, 1937, a daughter of the late Clair and Florence Wheeler Taft. She married Richard L. Keppler November 22, 1957.
She was a 1955 graduate of Linesville High School. She worked as a secretary at the Gilbert Irons Ford dealership, Linesville and subsequently became a certified Electro Encephalogram Technician, working for Dr. Hendricks of Erie and the Mind Body Wellness Center and Dr. Barry Bittman in Meadville. She was especially devoted to her family. She enjoyed traveling to visit and spend time with her grandchildren and also enjoyed cooking, baking, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Meadville where she was a former Sunday School teacher, children’s’ choir director, and head of the Vacation Bible School.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of 46 years, include a daughter, Mary Lee Ross and her husband Phillip of Clearwater, FL; 3 sons, David L. Keppler and his wife Susan of Meadville; Mark E. Keppler and his wife Paulette of Apollo; and Richard W. Keppler and his wife Leanne of Waterford; 6 sisters, Sarah O’Neal and her husband William of Ocala, FL; Ruth Kleve and her husband Daniel of Conneaut, OH; Mary Boban and her husband Arnold of Springboro; Dorothy Howland of California; Beatrice Cunningham and her husband Raymond of Columbus, OH; and Donna Johns of Penn Line; 3 brothers, Gerald Taft of Penn Line; Franklin Taft and his wife Barbara of Geneva, OH; and James Taft of Ohio; 7 grandchildren, Grant, Sean, Benjamin, Joshua, and Hannah Keppler and Andrew James and Alexander Lee Ross. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, an infant, Richard Taft, and Carl and Norman Taft.
Calling hours will be today (Monday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harold W. Coleman, Jr. Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Hwy 6, Linesville.
A funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Terry Clark, Pastor of First Christian Church officiating.
Burial will be in Penn Line Cemetery.
