Shirley B. Schweitzer

Shirley B. Schweitzer, 91, of Meadville and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community died there Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

She was born in Titusville September 14, 1929 a daughter of Kenneth and Katherine Tracy Baker.  She married Clair F. Schweitzer May 30, 1953 and he survives.

She was a 1947 graduate of Titusville High School and a 1949 graduate of Franklin School of Science and Art in Philadelphia where she received a certificate in medical technology.  She worked at Spencer Hospital and then Meadville Medical Center as a medical technologist in the lab and then subsequently worked for Dr. Moutsous.  She retired in 1989 after 40 years of service.  She enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, spending winters in Florida and playing cards.

Survivors, in addition to her husband Clair of 67 years, include: two sons, Charles Schweitzer of Pittsburgh and Kenneth Schweitzer (Callie) of Huntsville, AL; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Hunter (Hope), Quinn Hunter, Ellen Hunter, Daniel Hunter, Lawrence Hunter, Vivian Hunter and Brooks Schweitzer; three great grandchildren, Jack, Kate and Tyler and a niece.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, William Hope; her daughter, Kathy Hunter; her son-in-law, Tom Hunter; an infant grandson, Gus Hunter and her sister, Maxine Jameson.

A graveside service in St. Hippolyte Cemetery will be announced at a later date.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 505 Poplar Street, Suite 310, Meadville, PA 16335 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
