Shirley M. Packard

Shirley M. Packard, 83, of Conneaut Lake, died Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born February 20, 1928 in Johnsonburg, PA a daughter of Ellery Lee and Helen Claire Hagen Mix.  She married Raymond C. Packard August 9, 1946 and he survives.

She retired in 1984 as a merchandiser with G.C. Murphy Co. in Meadville after 27 years of service.  She was a member of High Street Community Church and was a very active volunteer with Active Aging, Inc. of Crawford County where she helped initiate the annual Veterans' Salute program.  She additionally volunteered for the American Red Cross and Retired Senior Volunteer Program.  She enjoyed reading and jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors, in addition to her husband Raymond of 64 years, include two sons, Raymond Packard, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Meadville and Chester Packard and his wife Ruth of Hartstown; a daughter, Micheleen Jacobson and her husband Andrew of Newville, PA; five grandchildren, Stephanie Breckenridge and her husband Scott, Matthew Packard and his wife Michelle, Kami Packard and her companion John Sutton, Joshua Packard and his wife Tina and Stacy Kerns and her companion Jeremy Stine; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Mix and Ellery Mix, Jr. and a sister, Joan Rudd.

Calling hours will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. David Meckley, Pastor of High Street Community Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
