Shirley Turner

September 9, 1931 — July 14, 1996

Shirley Turner, 64, of Meadville, formerly of Meadville, died Sunday, July 14, 1996 at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.

She was born September 9, 1931 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel Barber Phillips.  She married Robert Scowden.  He preceded her in death.  She subsequently married Clifford E. (Bud) Turner.  He died January 4, 1996.

She was a 1949 graduate of Meadville High School.  She was a homemaker and also worked as an office secretary for five years at St. Paul's United Church of Christ and seven years at Montgomery Ward.  She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Kimberly) Carter of Dayton, OH; one son, Mark P. Scowden of Eugene, OR; one step-daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Debbie) Lee of Meadville; two step-sons, David Turner of Stewartstown and Douglas Turner of Greenville; one sister, Mrs. Nevin (Carol) Mason of Chardon, OH; four grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Danielle Carter.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
