Sofia H. Hill

Mrs. Sofia H. Hill, 103, died Thursday October 13, 1977, at the home of a son, Maynard J. Hill, of Meadville, with whom she had lived for the past four years.

Born in Finland, July 17, 1874, she was a daughter of Jacob and Maria Rajamaki.  She came to the US in 1905.  With her husband, Matt Hill, who died in 1952, she settled in Sault Ste. Marie, MI., where they farmed and were involved with lumbering.  She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Sault Ste. Marie.

In addition her son, Maynard, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Celia Cottle of Skokie, IL and Mrs. Martha Carns of Oak Park, MI; another son, Earl M. Hill of Marquette, MI; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery.
