Sondra D. Mckinley

Sondra D. McKinley, 75 of Meadville passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center.  She was born on September 12, 1939 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Ruth E. Coulter Marley McCartney and Donald P. Marley.  She married William E. McKinley on October 10, 1958.  He survives.  After graduating from Meadville Area high School in 1957, she and a friend enjoyed a trip to Bermuda.

After marriage, Sondra and Bill lived in California and Oregon and then moved back to Pennsylvania where Sondra worked at the First National Bank for several years.  She retired from Rolling Fields Nursing Home after 23 years as their Controller.  Sondra loved going to work every day and was so proud to be a part of the Rolling Fields family.  Sondra enjoyed life to the fullest.  Traveling, riding roller coasters, playing poker with family and friends, were just a few of her favorite pastimes.  Although health issues in later years slowed her down physically, her amazing spirit and sense of humor were always there.  She will be missed by all those she shared her life with.

In addition to her loving husband and caregiver of 56 years, William E. McKinley, she is survived by a son, Keith McKinley and his wife Amy of Meadville; a daughter, Robin Durasa and her husband Dewey of Saegertown; two grandchildren who she was so proud of, Ava McKinley and Drew Durasa; three sisters, Linda Pendolino and husband Vince of Meadville, Karen Stefanacci of Lewis Center, OH and Donna Wilkes of El Camino, CA; a brother, Kevin McCartney and his wife Kim of Cochranton; a sister-in-law, Dottie McKinley of Meadville, brother-in-law Donald McKinley and wife Sue of Valliant, OK, and many beloved friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Sondra was preceded in death by sister Melody Barris of California, brother-in-law Richard Wilkes of California, and her step-father Lawrence McCartney.

Friends and family will be received Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.

The funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Rachel Johns, Pastor of Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer, 16864 Conneaut Lake Rd., Meadville, PA 16335.
