Stanley L. Hill, 89, formerly of Center St and a resident of Cordia Commons for the past 4 years, died Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at the Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Meadville, October 10, 1915, a son of Lester and Katherine Kismerick Hill.
He worked as the Athletic Equipment Manager at Allegheny College for many years and previously worked as a bar tender at the various clubs and bars in the area including the former Beacon Inn and David Mead Inn.
He was a graduate of Meadville High School and was a member of Meadville Elks Lodge #219. He was an avid reader and fisherman; usually fly fishing almost every day weather permitting.
Survivors, include: one niece, Linda Hughes and her husband David of Hadley; one nephew, Robert Downing and his wife July of Fredonia; one great nephew, David Hughes of Handley; two great nieces, Debra Yoos and her husband Paul of Greenville and Rhonda Lumley and her husband Denny of Greenville; two great great nieces, Kristen Lumley and Chelsea Yoos and one great great nephew, Nick Yoos.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy K. Hill and Catherine Downing Williams.
A private family funeral and committal service will be held Monday at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, with the Rev. Gerald H. Murphy, officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
