Stephen Craig Troy, 55, of Hadley, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, at Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio surrounded by his family.
Steve was born September 3, 1967, in Grove City, PA., to the late Edward “Ed” Troy and Elizabeth “Jane” Troy. Steve was a 1985 graduate of Lakeview High School and Vocational Technical School as a precision metal machinist. He went on to work at General Electric, now known as Wabtec Corporation, for 35 years.
Steve’s life was filled with the memories from his favorite outdoor hobbies. From a young age, he spent time hunting, trapping and shooting skeet with his father and brother. Year-round, Steve hunted everything that he could, and he then passed on those traditions to his son. In his later years, Steve’s favorite hunts were during crow season with his brother and son.
As a baseball standout at Lakeview High School known for his quick base steals, he later went on to coach baseball teams and touched the lives of many of his players. Steve enjoyed going back to Lakeview to cheer on both of his children at their sporting events – he never missed a game.
Steve’s competitive nature led him to spend many years playing for the Tom & Jerry’s softball team, in addition to an array of other teams throughout the course of his life. No matter how much time had passed, Steve acted as though he “still had it” through every season.
Steve was an amazing father, brother, and son, but above all else – he was a dedicated friend to those he loved.
Steve is survived by his children Jarrett and Jensen Troy of Stoneboro; his fiancé Tracey Redmond of Mercer; his brother, Chuck Troy and his fiancé Lisa Callan of Saegertown; his sister Cathy Oakes and her husband, Donnie, of Sandy Lake.
As Steve was the life of every party, there will be a celebration of life in his honor to commence at a date that is to be determined.
Because of Steve’s love for skeet shooting and the outdoors, the family asks that memorials be made in Steve’s name to the Sandy Lake Sportsmen’s Club, P.O. Box 795, Sandy Lake, PA 16145.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose And Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Stoneboro & Sandy Lake
