Susan R. Luther

Susan R. Luther, 70, of Meadville, died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Meadville Medical Center following an unexpected illness.

She was born July 10, 1938 in Moundsville, WV, a daughter of the late Harold and Orella McCrae Rhodes.  She married Walter R. Luther June 5, 1988.

Susan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from West Virginia University and worked as a lab technician at Meadville Medical Center for over 20 years, retiring in 2001.

An active member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, she was a member of the mother’s board and prayer team.  She formerly enjoyed cross stitching.

Survivors, in addition to her husband Walter, include a son, Michael Lovell and his wife Amy of Milwaukee, WI; a daughter, Cathy Lovell of Bellingen, New South Wales, Australia; 2 stepsons, Bill Luther and his wife Michelle of Nashville, TN and Ronnie Luther and his wife Karen of Meadville; 2 step-daughters, Cathy Mihalko of Conneaut Lake and Ginny Hetrick and her husband Chuck of Hartstown; a sister, Jane Bilderback and her husband George of Dublin, OH; 8 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; and a nephew.

A memorial service will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 792 N. Main St., Meadville with Bishop Stanley K. Smith, Pastor officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 792 N. Main St., Meadville, PA 16335.
