Suzanne Mary Roe, 78, of Meadville, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
Born on May 21, 1946, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, Suzanne was the cherished daughter of Miles and Dorothy Milliron. On August 9, 1971, she married the love of her life, Mitchell Roe, with whom she shared a devoted and joyful 53-year marriage. Mitchell survives her, carrying forward their shared legacy of love, kindness, and family.
Suzanne was a proud graduate of Kittanning Senior High School and pursued her passion for education by earning a Bachelor of Education from Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa. She touched countless lives during her 34-year career as an elementary school teacher within the Crawford Central School District. Known for her unwavering dedication to her students, Suzanne fostered a love of learning in all who passed through her classroom, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love of learning.
She embraced life with an adventurous spirit, enjoying fishing, cooking, sewing, and an unexpected love for trucks. One of Suzanne's greatest accomplishments was becoming the first woman in the nation to coach wrestling. Alongside her husband, Mitchell, she served as an assistant coach for the Meadville Junior High wrestling team. Together, they made history, leading every team they coached to undefeated seasons.
Suzanne's life was deeply rooted in family, and her love for them knew no bounds. She is survived by her devoted husband, Mitchell, their beloved son, Miles Roe, and his wife Cynthia of Chalfont, Pennsylvania. Her love extended to her three precious grandchildren, Madelyn, Olivia, and Maddox Roe, who were her pride and joy. Suzanne also leaves behind her dear sister, Nancy Crawford of Butler, Pennsylvania, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she touched with her warmth and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Miles and Dorothy Milliron, as well as her dear brother, James Milliron.
A celebration of Suzanne’s life will take place on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Rose and Waid Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, with Rev. Curt Brenizer officiating at 12:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to share memories, offer condolences, and honor her legacy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crawford County Hospice in Suzanne's name, as a reflection of the causes and values she held close to her heart.
